Media 140 Conference
February 25, 2010 | 2 CommentsHey All,
Blaque Studios helped sponsor a social media conference that explores the effect of real time web on brands and companies. With many respected guest speakers, the place was packed to capacity.. and then some, people were sitting on the floor and standing up the back! I was responsible for the photography coverage and some live blogging, accompanied by Grum, Brett and John on the media table. The day brought about much inspiration, information and even a few laughs from Andrew Pascoe, a refreshingly frank and self-depreciating lawyer. It was also great to network and meet new people during the lunch breaks and other assorted coffee breaks. The primary theme of the day was that social media needs to be a dialogue.. not an avenue to broadcast and sell. Genuine engagement with our customers is the key.
Personally I would have liked to have heard some more success stories on avenues such as facebook, flickr and other social media sites, rather than the main focus being on twitter, that said, I thoroughly enjoyed the day and I’m looking forward to connecting with many more twitter users over the coming weeks and months!
I’ve got some of the photos that went up live on the blog and now into the flickr group shown at the bottom of this blog, there will be more photos when I can actually process them properly. For all people organising social media events, feel free to get in contact with me, as I am able to provide live photography, video and blogging coverage!
Regards

Great effort today guys at Media140. I like the nice, simple design of your site too.
Thanks for that Mal!
